In the Lower School, we help instill in each child a love of learning that will form the basis for future education. We lay the foundations of literacy and mathematics and develop skills in physical education, art, music, and science to provide a solid platform for future studies and beyond.

Vu Ly

Head of Middle School, Interim Head of Lower School

Vu has an extensive background in education with years of public school experience at YES Prep Public Schools and Baker Ripley Promise Community Schools and River Oaks Baptist School. He has held various roles, including teaching science (grades 5–8), After-School Director, Athletic Director, 6th-grade Science Teacher, Grade-Level Chair, GT Coordinator, and Middle School Dean. Currently, he serves as the Head of Middle School and Interim Head of Lower School at STE. For three summers, he also worked as the Math and Science Instructional Coach for Breakthrough Houston.

Vu holds a B.S. from the University of Houston and an M.Ed. from UT-Arlington. His hobbies include traveling, being outdoors, and staying active. He deeply values the close-knit, family-oriented community at STE, where working alongside family and friends makes the school a truly special place.
