Pre-K 4 Voyagers

Christi Garcia – Voyagers

St. Thomas’ four-year-old children are called “Voyagers” because they “travel” the world, studying different countries and their cultures throughout the year. Like the Mariners, St. Thomas’ four-year-old children are adventurers who seek to discover new understandings of the world around them. Units of study are thematic and integrated across curricular areas.

The PreK-4 curriculum focuses on these topics and skills:

  • Intellectual Development
  • Social-emotional & Spiritual Development
  • Physical Development
  • Fine and Gross Motor Skills
  • Language and Communication
  • Emergent Literacy—Reading
  • Emergent Literacy—Writing
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Christian Education
  • Library Skills
  • Spanish
  • Technology
  • Visual and Performing Arts

At the end of the school year, children from PreK-4 may be promoted into Kindergarten, provided they meet the academic, developmental and age requirements of the kindergarten program.

Since learning is as much a social activity as it is an individual activity, much of what students learn comes from interacting with other people. Classes are structured to provide developmentally appropriate instruction and to promote creativity, problem solving, and critical thinking.

Students in PreK-4 participate in our “Read Together—Grow Together” library program. mrs-garcia
