PreKindergarten

Our preschool program has been gently guiding young children’s natural curiosity and innate drive to explore since 1966. We have designed our classrooms and curriculum with the aim of cultivating in each child a sense of security, confidence, and independence at being at school on their own.

Our Explorers learn together.

St. Thomas embraces a mixed-age-group preschool class where 3 and 4-year-olds learn together. St. Thomas is to proud to offer this innovative and research-based structure that gives children a chance to build a long and lasting relationship with their teachers and classroom.

We keep our classes small averaging an 8:1 student to teacher ratio to ensure that teachers can focus on getting to know and nurture each child. Our small class sizes also allow teachers to facilitate cooperation between children, allowing them to play better together and develop healthy conflict resolution skills. It also allows teachers the flexibility to respond to individual child needs and interests.

We believe play is essential for meaningful learning and kindergarten readiness. That said, our program is a true educational program without abandoning that joyful wonder and tender care required by young children. We take our preschoolers on learning journeys, gently introducing them to the world around them through thematic units of study integrated across curricular areas. At STAES, your child will be prepared to make a smooth and confident transition into kindergarten.
