We seek teachers that facilitate the growth of students in a student-centered, developmentally appropriate environment focusing on research-based best practices following a differentiated, balanced approach, and curriculum. While developing and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, and faculty members, they will recognize and coach the social-emotional needs of each student.

Current Openings

Position Title: Grade 1 Teacher

Date: March 17, 2022

Reports to: Head of School

Description: St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal School is seeking a full-time first grade teacher to join its lower school team starting August 8, 2022. St. Thomas offers families of all backgrounds and faiths a classical education adapted to 21st century learning standards in order to cultivate children who are knowledgeable, creative, and virtuous global citizens. 

The Lower School classes have a 12:1 student-teacher ratio which provide an intimate classroom environment allowing teachers to design classroom activities that engage in critical thinking, creative exploration, and learning how to work together on interdisciplinary projects.

Essential Functions and Tasks:

  • Work directly with the Head of School to plan, implement and supervise the day-to-day programs for a classroom of up to 12 first grade students
  • Create a positive rapport with students, families, teachers, and staff 
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students
  • Communicate with parents regarding students’ educational objectives
  • Plan, prepare, and implement research based instructional activities that stimulate a student-centered, inquiry-based instructional design.
  • Provide for individual learning differences and learning styles
  • Prepare a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, attendance, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student growth
  • Observe and evaluate student performance using student-centered assessment approaches
  • Grow professionally by attending workshops, seminars, classes and other in-service activities
  • Perform other tasks and duties assigned by the Head of School

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate (preferred)
  • A minimum of three to five years of teaching experience in primary grades with a strong emphasis in reading
  • Core knowledge of the development of primary-age school children
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong background in phonics  

Position Title: PK3 Teacher

Date: March 21, 2022

Reports to: Head of School

Description: St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal School is seeking a full-time PK3 teacher to join its Lower School Team starting August 8, 2022. St. Thomas offers families of all backgrounds and faiths a classical education adapted to 21st century learning standards in order to cultivate children who are knowledgeable, creative, and virtuous global citizens. 

STAES uses a research-based early childhood curriculum that is developmentally appropriate. The students study core subjects of language arts, mathematics, science and social studies through a variety of age-appropriate learning experiences and hands-on activities. 

Essential Functions and Tasks:

  • Work directly with the Head of School to plan, implement and supervise the day-to-day programs for a classroom of up to 12 PK students
  • Coordinate events and activities with the Early Childhood team
  • Create a positive rapport with students, families, teachers, and staff 
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students
  • Communicate with parents the students’ educational objectives
  • Plan, prepare, and implement research based thematic activities that stimulate a student-centered, inquiry-based instructional design.
  • Provide for individual learning differences and learning styles
  • Observe and evaluate student performance using student-centered assessment approaches
